Its main focus is to remember those who gave their lives for freedom, to look after the needs of veterans, their dependents, and those still serving in the Canadian Forces. It also sponsors a variety of community programs such as sports, seniors programs, youth programs including an annual provincial- wide public speaking contest. The goal of the Public Speaking Contest, part of the Legion’s Youth and Education program, is to give young people an opportunity to speak in public.
